Implantology
It is the dental specialty that focuses on the replacement of lost dental
organs. Takes place through the installation of titanium posts embedded in the
jaw, as a root (in the alveolar bone) and then can carry artificial teeth in a
part designed for it and close to the area dental collusion.
There is also to avoid transgressing the fabric of the surrounding teeth to the
gap of lost natural teeth as another specialty (Prosthetic or fixed) makes to
support the replacement of the tooth as a fixed bridge in a or more points,
eroding the adjacent teeth, using the relative strength of these roots.
Lingual
This is the face of the tooth that looks inward, toward the tongue. This term
is used for the lower arch. is the back of lower teeth. It is used for system
level and clack
Palatina
Corresponds to one side of the tooth that looks to the palate, this term is
used for the upper arch.
Incisal
Corresponds to the cutting surfaces of incisors and canines.
Dentistry is the
medical specialty that is responsible for diagnosis, treatment and prevention
of diseases of the stomatognathic system including the teeth, gums, tongue,
palate, oral mucosa, salivary gland and other anatomical structures involved,
such as lips, tonsils, oropharynx, and temporomandibular joint.
Specialist areas of dental work
Dentistry encompasses several disciplines and specialties: Oral Rehabilitation,
Orthodontics, Prosthodontics, or dentures, Periodontics, Endodontics,
Implantology, Pedodontics, Cosmetic or Aesthetic Dentistry, Preventive
Dentistry, Oral Surgery and Maxillofacial Surgery, Neuro-focal Dentistry and Forensic Dentistry.
Also engages in the
development of new biocompatible materials that ensure improved performance and
the decreasing likelihood of rejection by the host organism to the implants.
Currently, the failure rate is around 4%, so we can say that reliability is
significant.
The "Achilles tendon" of the implant, it is the cervical area, where
the epithelium is not really connecting to the implant, leaving an "open
door" to the potential entry of microorganisms and their toxins.
Vestibular
Is the face of the tooth or teeth that are outward. Therefore, the vestibular
face of the upper central incisors would be when we see someone smile.
Occlusal
This is the same as Incisal but this term is used for the premolars and molars.
It is the chewing surfaces of teeth with which macerated food.
Mesial
Direction or is one side of the tooth that points to the midline to the center,
or an imaginary line that divides the human being in half into two symmetrical
pieces.
Distal
Is the face of the tooth that is away from the midline. Mesial and distal terms
are defined within the medical concept of the position anatomica.es is easy to
remember and you can learn a mnemonic rule that distal distance referring to
the midline
Apical
Is the direction taken to reach the apex, the apex is the tip of the root.
Coronal
Is the direction taken to reach the dental crown. It is part of the tooth that
extends from their neck until their teeth incisal edge or occlusal side.
Antagonist
We refer to a tooth of another antagonist to mark the same tooth but the other
arch, so that the tooth antagonist, in an ideal face of the first molar 'will
be the lower permanent first molar, on the same side.
Occlusion
It is not an anatomical term. We refer to occlusion in dentistry to describe
what is commonly known as the bite, so the occlusion was caused by contacting
the gear teeth of the upper arcade and the arcade below. It is considered as
the highest intercuspidation the one position where the teeth of the upper and
lower arch has maximum contact. For the occlusion is stable and does not damage
either the periodontium or the structures of the temporo mandibular joint, this
"maximum intercuspidation" must match the "central occlusion.
This is as close as possible to "centric relation".

Interproximal
The interproximal space between two teeth, also called interproximal space
Proximal
One goes to proximal caries when going to the union of adjacent teeth. It is
also proximal to the distal side of the third molars.
Cervical
This is the direction toward the neck of the tooth. For example, if there is a
cavity at the root of a lower incisor and neck toward your route will be up and
if we have a cavity that is in the path of cervical crown in the same tooth
will be down.
Arcade
Dental arch or an arch is the group of teeth in the mandible
or maxilla. We will have superior arcade, the upper jaw and lower arch in the
mandible. The term "hemiarcada" refers to the left or right half of
each arch.
Hemiarcada
Hemiarcada is one half of an arch, which is divided into four parts: upper
right, upper left, lower right, lower left
